Automotive Manufacturing & Parts

Project overview

As the automotive industry shifts to smart, lean manufacturing, warehouse transfer and line feeding at vehicle and parts plants are being upgraded. MightyCargo intelligent stacking forklifts, as represented by automated reach-type equipment, are deployed across the whole automotive value chain — from stamped body parts, engine blocks and cylinder bodies to precision parts — restructuring plant internal logistics and becoming a key lever for cost reduction and flexible production.

Equipment deployed: Intelligent reach-type stacking forklifts + underride AGVs + WMS/MES integration

What the customer faced

  • Heavy and precision parts both demand safe high-rack handling.
  • Line feeding timing is strict — material stock-outs stop the line and cost money.
  • Manual driving quality varies: empty runs, wrong deliveries and uneven efficiency.
  • Multi-SKU parts make manual inventory counting error-prone.

How MightyCargo answered

Full-category part handling, all-scenario storage

Automotive materials are mixed: heavy large parts such as body frames and white bodies, plus medium and small precision parts such as engine blocks and transmission parts — stored on high racks in narrow aisles with high stacking. The MightyCargo intelligent reach-type stacking forklift with high lift and narrow body matches the auto-parts stereoscopic warehouse: white bodies are palletized on heavy racks; the forklift's autonomous navigation drives precisely into narrow aisles to access frames several meters high, replacing manual high-altitude work and eliminating heavy-part fall hazards. Precision engine parts — cylinder blocks and gearbox housings from machining lines — are stored on multi-level racks; the forklift auto-picks and putaways per WMS instructions, so no human handling damage scraps parts. Multi-spec small parts in plastic totes are moved by underride AGVs in tandem with the forklifts — full-auto whole-tote transfer from receiving to racking, completing the in-warehouse automation chain.

Line integration — precise, punctual JIT feeding

Vehicle assembly and machining lines demand tight material timing; stock-out line stops are a major cost driver. Smart forklifts open the material channel between warehouse and line, implementing JIT delivery: in the engine machining workshop, CNC machines produce cylinder blocks in batches; the intelligent electric forklift receives MES delivery tasks, fetches blank castings from the raw-material warehouse to machine loading stations, and immediately transfers finished parts to the semi-finished warehouse — all driverless. Delivery pacing matches machining cycles, avoiding station pile-up that blocks aisles and eliminating stock-out downtime at the root. For assembly lines, forklifts deliver body accessories and chassis parts to stations in time windows per the final-assembly schedule — fitting the flexible feeding needs of mixed-model production.

Digital control — lean cost management

Manual forklifts depend on driver experience, with empty runs, wrong deliveries and uneven efficiency. Smart forklifts carry onboard control and connect to WMS/MES: operation data is visualized — routes, pick frequencies and material turnover upload to the plant's management platform in real time, so managers can measure part-handling efficiency and optimize rack layout. One smart forklift works 24-hour shifts, replacing 2–3 licensed drivers and cutting labor cost sharply; automated precise picking reduces pallet and workpiece damage, cutting part scrap and consumables. Inventory becomes refined: forklift access records update stock ledgers automatically, eliminating manual counting errors across many part SKUs, improving turnover and reducing raw-material capital tied up.

Industry value

Extending the value

As NEV capacity expands and smart plants upgrade, internal logistics automation penetration keeps rising. Future smart forklifts will fuse 5G, machine vision and multi-vehicle cluster scheduling for EV batteries and one-piece die-cast body storage. MightyCargo keeps iterating load, lift height and navigation solutions to fit automotive manufacturing segments — driving plant logistics from manual, extensive modes into a smart, lean era.
